Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ADAPTIVE AGENTIC AI FRAMEWORK FOR COUNTERFACTUAL VALIDATION AND ADVERSARIAL LOOKAHEAD IN AUTOMATED INCIDENT RESPONSE The present invention provides an adaptive agentic artificial intelligence framework designated CIPHER-A (100) for automated cybersecurity incident response that addresses two fundamental deficiencies in existing security orchestration systems: the absence of pre-execution consequence prediction for response actions and the treatment of attackers as static entities. The framework (100) operates as a four-phase closed-loop pipeline comprising a SIEM Connector and Alert Normalization Module (110), an LLM Response Generator (120), a Counterfactual Validation Engine (130) that evaluates each proposed response action by generating multiple outcome scenarios and computing composite risk scores incorporating severity, blast radius, and reversibility to route actions for autonomous execution, safe modification, or human escalation, and an Adversarial Lookahead Module (140) with an Attacker Simulation Agent (142) that predicts adversarial tactical adaptations grounded in the MITRE ATT&CK knowledge base after each executed action and updates the incident context for re-validation of remaining actions. The framework introduces a Response Plan Degradation Rate metric quantifying response plan deterioration due to attacker adaptation, achieving significant improvements in response plan maintenance, false safety rates, escalation accuracy, and containment time over conventional systems.
