Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ADAPTIVE DOUBLE EXPONENTIAL SMOOTHING-BASED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (ECG) SIGNAL DENOISING The present invention relates to biomedical signal processing and, more particularly, to a computer-implemented system and method for real- time denoising of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using Adaptive Double Exponential Smoothing (Adaptive DES). The invention addresses limitations of conventional filtering, wavelet transform, and empirical mode decomposition techniques by dynamically estimating smoothing parameters based on local ECG signal characteristics. The acquired ECG signal is subjected to preprocessing, adaptive parameter estimation, forward recursive smoothing, reverse recursive smoothing, and signal reconstruction to suppress baseline wander, power-line interference, electromyographic noise, and motion artifacts while preserving the morphology of clinically significant waveform components including the P-wave, QRS complex, and T-wave. The proposed method minimizes phase distortion, reduces computational complexity, and enables real-time implementation on embedded processors, wearable healthcare devices, bedside monitoring systems, telemedicine platforms, and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) applications. The invention provides enhanced ECG signal quality for reliable cardiac monitoring and automated diagnostic support.
