Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence (AI)–based adaptive access control system (100) for regulating vehicle and pedestrian entry in urban traffic environments. Conventional systems based on manual or fixed-rule control are ineffective in heterogeneous traffic conditions. The system (100) comprises a surveillance camera unit (110) for capturing real-time video, an image preprocessing module (120) for enhancing captured frames, and an AI-based multi-class detection module (130) configured to identify and classify vehicles and pedestrians. A length and occupancy estimation module (140) determines spatial parameters including vehicle dimensions and lane occupancy using bounding box analysis and calibration techniques. An adaptive decision engine (150) processes classification and spatial data to dynamically generate access control decisions based on predefined rules. A gate control unit (200) actuates a physical barrier in response to decision outputs, enabling a gate open state (180) for authorized vehicles via an allowed signal (160), and maintaining a gate closed or hold state (190) via a restricted signal (170) for unauthorized vehicles or pedestrian presence. The system ensures improved traffic regulation, safety, and efficient access management.
