The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an AI-based environmental monitoring system designed to automatically analyze and classify beach sand grain sizes using camera-captured images. The system, titled SandVision, utilizes computer vision and machine learning techniques to identify, segment, and categorize sand grains into fine, medium, and coarse classifications. The invention integrates live camera streaming and scheduled image acquisition to capture sand images at predefined intervals. These images undergo preprocessing, grain segmentation, feature extraction, and classification using trained machine learning models. The system is implemented as a full-stack web application that provides real-time visualization, analytical dashboards, and downloadable reports for long-term monitoring. Unlike traditional manual sand analysis methods, which are time-consuming and prone to human error, SandVision offers an automated, accurate, and scalable solution. The system supports coastal research, erosion studies, and environmental planning by enabling continuous sand grain size mapping through intelligent automation.
