Abstract: ABSTRACT AN ALCOHOL-FREE ANTIMICROBIAL NANOEMULSION COMPOSITION AND ITS METHOD OF PREPARATION The invention relates to antimicrobial nanoemulsion formulations for hygiene and disinfection, and discloses an alcohol-free oil-in-water nanoemulsion composition comprising green tea catechin-mediated copper nanoparticles having a catechin layer on a copper-containing core, an antioxidant extract phase of Sea buckthorn extract and Amla extract, lemongrass oil as nanosized droplets, sodium dodecyl sulphate as an interfacial stabilizing layer, and a continuous aqueous phase dispersing the foregoing components. The droplets have an average diameter below 200 nm, optionally about 149.2nm, with enhanced colloidal stability. The invention further discloses a method of preparing the composition by alkaline synthesis of the catechin-mediated copper nanoparticles from a copper precursor, followed by addition of the antioxidant extract phase, lemongrass oil, and sodium dodecyl sulphate with stirring to form the nanoemulsion, and use thereof for hand hygiene and disinfection of inanimate surfaces.
