Abstract: ABSTRACT An electronic control unit configured to run an algorithm 100 to shut off a supply of fuel that is delivered from an electric feed pump to a high-pressure fuel pump is described. The electronic control unit configured to run the algorithm 100 comprises delivering 110 pressurized fuel from the electric feed pump to the high-pressure fuel pump, sensing 120 a pressure of fuel that is present in a high-pressure common rail by means of a rail pressure sensor, and shutting off 130 a supply of fuel that is delivered from the electric feed pump to the high-pressure fuel pump after pressurized fuel in the high-pressure common rail has increased above a threshold pressure. The electronic control unit configured to run the algorithm 100 to shut off the supply of fuel delivered from the electric feed pump to the high- pressure fuel pump wherein the threshold pressure is pre-determined by a user.
