Abstract: ABSTRACT An electronic control unit configured to run an algorithm 100 to quick start a vehicle by opening a fuel metering unit based on a pressure of fuel that is present in a high-pressure common rail is described. The electronic control unit configured to run the algorithm 100 comprises sensing 110 a pressure of fuel present in a high-pressure common rail via a rail pressure sensor, increasing 120 a volume of fuel delivered by a fuel metering unit to a high-pressure fuel pump by multiplying the volume of fuel delivered by the fuel metering unit by a magnification factor pre-determined by a user, and restoring 130 the volume of fuel delivered by the fuel metering unit to the high-pressure fuel pump to its original volume of fuel delivered by the fuel metering unit after the pressure of fuel sensed by the rail pressure sensor increases above a threshold limit.
