The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: According to the present invention, an active neutral point clamped based hybrid modular multilevel converter (ANPC-HMMC) system (1000) and a method for generating multiple voltage levels with an improved voltage gain are disclosed. The system (1000) comprises an ANPC-HMMC (100) for a phase comprising two input capacitors (C1, C2), two pairs of series switch devices (Sau, Saud, Sal, Sald), an upper arm circuit (1102), a lower arm circuit (1104) with each comprising a plurality of submodules in series, and two identical arm inductors (Larm1, Larm2), two arm current sensors (210, 220) fixed at each arm, a plurality of arm voltage sensors (310, 320, 330, 340) connected across the plurality of submodules at each arm and a controller module (400) connected therein. The present system can generate double the magnitude of AC voltage compared to conventional MMC and ANPC-HMMC with ‘2N+1’ number of voltage levels using same magnitude of DC voltage.
