MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641068274 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on May 28, 2026, for An Apparatus For Dimensional Measurement.
Inventors include Vasu Arya; Saksham Anand; Abhiram Sharma; and Amit Kumar Rahul.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus (100) for dimensional measurement. A beam (102) of the apparatus (100) supports a fixed jaw (104) and guides linear displacement of a movable jaw (106) during measurement operations. The movable jaw (106) mechanically repositions a slider (110) along the beam (102) in response to jaw separation variations corresponding to dimensions of an external object. The slider (110) actuates an analog displacement transducer (112), and the analog displacement transducer (112) generates a continuous analog voltage proportional to displacement of the movable jaw (106). A mechanical zero- reset assembly (114) establishes repeatable positional referencing during closure operations of the movable jaw (106). A spring biasing arrangement (120) forces engagement between detent structures associated with the mechanical zero-reset assembly (114), thereby repositioning the slider (110) and the analog displacement transducer (112) toward synchronized mechanical and electrical zero-reference positions.
