MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511008804 A) filed by Indian Council Of Medical Research on February 03, 2025, for An Apparatus For Estimating Presence Of Secondary Diabetic Conditions Based On A Biological Sample.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus (100) for estimating presence of secondary diabetic conditions based on a biological sample (S), the apparatus (100) which includes, an excitation lens system (110), an emission lens system (130), a fiber connecter (140) and an electronic control unit (160) which is configured to receive a fluorescence spectral signal (L4) of a biological sample from a spectrometer (150), and compare the fluorescence spectral signal wavelength of the fluorescence spectral signal (L4) with a threshold fluorescence spectral wavelength stored in the electronic control unit (160) to estimate presence of the secondary diabetic conditions based on the biological sample. With the apparatus (100) disclosed herein, the secondary diabetic conditions, such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy, can be ascertained in the patient. Moreover, separate tests, tools or medical apparatuses or devices are not required to be used or performed individually for estimating each of these secondary diabetic conditions.
