Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus (100) for forming a sheet metal workpiece (110). The apparatus (100) comprises a punch body (102) and a die body (104) disposed opposite one another along a longitudinal direction. A forming profile (116) is formed on the punch body (102), and a complementary forming profile (118) is formed on the die body (104). The punch body (102) includes a first recess (112), and the die body (104) includes a second recess (114). A first rotatable cylindrical member (106) is partially received within the first recess (112) and is supported for rotation relative to the punch body (102). A second rotatable cylindrical member (108) is partially received within the second recess (114) and is supported for rotation relative to the die body (104). Portions of the rotatable cylindrical members (106, 108) project into a forming region to contact the sheet metal workpiece (110) between the forming profile (116) and the complementary forming profile (118).
