Inventors include Dr. U. Praveen Goud; Ms. Madagarivaishnavi; Mr. Puppala Maniteja; Mr. Meghavath Vinod Kumar; and Mr. Bashaboina Bharath.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Artificial Intelligence based system and method for real-time traffic volume prediction and adaptive flyover design optimization. The system continuously acquires traffic information from multiple sources including CCTV cameras, IoT sensors, automatic traffic counters, GPS-enabled vehicles, weather databases, and roadway infrastructure sensors. The collected data are validated, preprocessed, and analysed using machine learning models to predict future traffic demand. A roadway geometry evaluation module analyses existing road characteristics, while an optimization engine generates multiple flyover design alternatives by varying lane configuration, ramp geometry, structural dimensions, and alignment parameters. Each alternative is evaluated through microscopic traffic simulation using performance indicators including congestion level, travel time, queue length, level of service, emissions, fuel consumption, and accident probability. The optimized flyover design is automatically selected to maximize traffic efficiency, improve road safety, reduce environmental impact, and minimize infrastructure cost. The invention provides an intelligent decision-support framework for future-ready urban transportation planning and adaptive flyover infrastructure development.
