Abstract: An automated call management system (100) and a method are disclosed for selectively managing incoming telephone calls based on a scheduled availability state of a user. The system (100) comprises a user device having a processor (102), memory (104), a communication interface (106), a Calendar Integration Unit (130), a Time and State Management Unit (170), a Telephony Interface (180), an Emergency-Call Detection Unit (150), a System Core (120), and a Notification and Messaging Unit (160). The Calendar Integration Unit (130) retrieves scheduled event information and stores corresponding time intervals. The Time and State Management Unit (170) determines whether a scheduled event is active and selectively activates a Call Control Mode. During the Call Control Mode, the Telephony Interface (180) receives an incoming call and identifies a caller, while the System Core (120) determines call handling based on caller information, priority status and repeated call attempts. The system (100) selectively permits or suppresses the incoming call and, when suppressed, automatically communicates a message through a messaging channel.
