Abstract: Disclosed herein is an automated thermal imaging based deep learning system (100) for monitoring skin health in animals, the system (100) comprises a data acquisition module (102) configured to capture thermal images of an animal. The system also includes a pre-processing module (104) configured to enhance image quality. The system also includes a feature extraction module (106) configured to extract high-level thermal features. The system also includes a dual classification module (108) comprising a convolutional neural network (CNN) pathway configured to process the feature vector and a bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi- LSTM) pathway configured to process the feature vector. The system also includes a fusion and decision module (110) configured to integrate outputs from the CNN pathway and the Bi-LSTM pathway through a fully connected layer and apply a softmax activation function. The system also includes a prediction and visualization module (112) configured to output a classified thermal image.
