MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641092856 A) filed by Aditya University on July 30, 2026, for An Electrical Adapter With Sequential Mechanical Engagement For Controlled Electrical Connection And Method Of Operation.
Inventors include B. K. Vidyasagar; and M Satyanarayana Raju.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes an electrical adapter (100) configured to provide sequential mechanical engagement and controlled electrical connection between an electrical plug (10) and an electrical socket using a mechanically actuated engagement mechanism for reducing unintended electrical contact and improving connection safety and reliability. The electrical adapter (100) comprises a first frame (102) having a plurality of male terminals (104), a second frame (106) carrying a rotary disc (112) configured to receive the electrical plug (10) in a reversed orientation, a motion conversion assembly (116) including a hollow shaft (118), an input shaft (134), an output shaft (144), and an elastic member (132) configured to convert axial movement of the electrical plug (10) into rotational movement of the rotary disc (112), and a locking assembly (150) comprises a gear (156) and a circular plate (152) configured to selectively retain and release the electrical plug (10) during electrical connection and disconnection.
