MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441100213 A) filed by L&t Technology Services Limited on December 17, 2024, for An Electromagnetic Push-Pull Mechanism For A Horizontal Directional Drilling Machine And Method Of Operation Thereof.

Inventors include Chirag Mistry; Grupesh Hareshkumar Tapiawala; and Himanshu Singh Bisht.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: Present disclosure discloses an electromagnetic push-pull mechanism (100) for a horizontal directional drilling machine (200). The mechanism (100) includes a rail unit (202) defined with a pair of columns (102) defined with a plurality of electromagnets (104) extending along a length of the pair of columns (102). The mechanism (100) includes a magnetic member (106) connectable to a carriage unit (204) and movably mounted above the rail unit between the plurality of electromagnets (104). The magnetic member (106) is displaceable between a first position (FP) and a second position (SP). The mechanism further includes a control unit (108) communicatively coupled to the plurality of electromagnets and is configured to selectively activate the plurality of electromagnets to exert electromagnetic driving force on the magnetic member in at least one of a first direction and a second direction for displacing the carriage unit between the first position and the second position.
