The at least one barrel section (102, 104, 106) includes at least one set of helical screws (114, 116, 118) concentrically disposed inside the at least one barrel section (102, 104, 106). A moisture regulating assembly (124, 122, 302) adapted to maintain a predetermined moisture level inside the at least one barrel section (102, 104, 106). At least one conical section (120) adapted to provide uniform backpressure, and a moisture measurement probe (130) adapted to measure moisture content in a biomass extrudate. At least one liner (202, 204, 206) is disposed within the at least one barrel section (102, 104, 106) and adapted to guide the biomass towards the at least one set of helical screws (114, 116, 118).
