MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611102868 A) filed by Suresh Gyan Vihar University on August 26, 2026, for An Implantable Drug Refill Apparatus For Minimally Invasive Longterm Medication Delivery.
Inventors include Dr. Sarmad Moin; and Dr. Gaurav Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: An implantable drug refill apparatus (100) comprises an implantable housing (102), medication reservoir (104), refill interface (106), self-sealing membrane (108), flow-control assembly (110), delivery conduit (112), and delivery outlet (114). The refill interface (106) permits minimally invasive replenishment of medication within the reservoir (104) using a refill needle. The self-sealing membrane (108) substantially reseals following needle withdrawal. A displacement member (124) facilitates medication transfer, while the flow-control assembly (110) regulates delivery through the conduit (112). A localization element (122) assists accurate refill-interface identification, enabling prolonged medication administration without repeated surgical reservoir replacement.
