MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511023448 A) filed by British Telecommunications Public Limited Company; and Indian Institute Of Science on March 17, 2025, for An Improved Photodiode.

Inventors include Andrew Lord; Kausik Majumdar; and Pushkar Dasika.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: There is herein described a photodiode comprising an emitter, a collector and a barrier, where the energy level of the conduction band of the barrier is greater than both the energy level of the valence band of the emitter and the energy level of the conduction band of the collector, wherein the barrier is located in a charge-flow path of electrons through the photodiode, such that an electron that absorbs an incident optica l signal in the emitter can pass from the emitter to the barrier and from the barrier to the collector.
