MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621011373 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Gandhinagar on February 03, 2026, for An Injectable Polymeric Hydrogel Composition And A Process Of Preparation Thereof.
Inventors include Mukesh Dhanka; and Aniruddha.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT AN INJECTABLE POLYMERIC HYDROGEL COMPOSITION AND A PROCESS OF PREPARATION THEREOF The present disclosure relates to an injectable polymeric hydrogel composition comprising a first predetermined amount of at least one functionalized polysaccharide and a second predetermined amount of at least one functionalized biopolymer, wherein the components interact in an aqueous medium to form a crosslinked three-dimensional hydrogel network. The disclosure further provides a process for preparation of the injectable hydrogel comprising oxidation of at least one polysaccharide using an oxidizing agent in a predetermined ratio to obtain a reaction mixture, quenching the reaction, purifying by dialysis, and lyophilizing to obtain a functionalized polysaccharide powder; activating a polysaccharide-based biopolymer, reacting the activated biopolymer with a polyamine compound, purifying and lyophilizing to obtain a functionalized biopolymer powder; and mixing predetermined amounts of the powders in an aqueous medium to form the hydrogel. The hydrogel exhibits rapid in situ gelation, excellent injectability, sustained therapeutic release, cost-effectiveness, and reduced synthetic complexity.
