MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099713 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on August 18, 2026, for An Integrated Intelligent Structural Paste Placement System.
Inventor includes Gauri Shankar Prasad Singh.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an integrated intelligent structural paste placement system (20) for highwall mining, comprising a telescopic paste delivery boom (30) mounted on a roof of a cutter module (22) of a push-beam highwall mining machine, a paste supply system (50) with a variable-speed paste pump (54), a sensor suite (80) including a LiDAR range sensor (92), and a closed-loop controller (72). During machine withdrawal, the boom (30) extends into the mined entry (10) and discharges cemented paste while the controller (72) coordinates withdrawal speed, boom extension and pump output to maintain the discharge nozzle (40) at 2–5 m from the advancing paste fill front (16). Four filling strategies are supported, with fly ash at 60–75% by weight as the primary paste constituent, whereby coal recovery is increased by 15–30%, voids are eliminated, subsidence is controlled and fly ash is beneficially utilised.
