Abstract: AN INTEGRATED IOT-BASED SMART ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR CLASSROOMS AND CAMPUSES USING ESP32 MICROCONTROLLER The present invention provides an integrated, battery-powered, IoT-based energy management system for classrooms and campuses. The system comprises a single ESP32 microcontroller (101) powered by a 3S 18650 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery pack (104) with an integrated Battery Management System (BMS). The system includes an electricity monitoring module having an ACS712 current sensor and a voltage sensor (103) for real-time power and cumulative energy computation. An automatic lighting module having a PIR occupancy sensor (105) and an LDR ambient light sensor controlling a first relay channel based on a 300-lux threshold and a 180-300 second delay. A humidity control module having a DHT sensor (106) controlling a second relay channel (108) for a humidifier output based on 40% and 60% RH thresholds. A remotely-positioned air quality monitoring module having an MQ-135 gas sensor configured with a 1000 ppm alert threshold, and a fire-safety module having an infrared flame/smoke sensor which, upon detection, causes the microcontroller (101) to instantaneously deactivate both relay channels and trigger an alarm output. Data from all modules is transmitted to a cloud-based dashboard for centralized, real-time monitoring across multiple campus zones.
