Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent self-learning wireless sensor architecture that jointly performs adaptive communication and fault prediction. Each sensor node comprises a multi-modal sensing unit, an edge microcontroller executing feature extraction and a lightweight anomaly detector, a self-diagnostic monitor, a reconfigurable radio transceiver, and an energy management unit with energy harvesting. A reinforcement-learning-based adaptive communication controller observes link quality, residual energy, harvesting rate, and a fault-risk score, and autonomously selects transmission power, data rate, channel, duty cycle, reporting interval, and routing parent. Unlike conventional networks with static configurations, communication behaviour is coupled to the health of the monitored asset: elevated fault risk increases sampling rate and delivery reliability, whereas healthy operation reduces energy consumption. A cluster head aggregates data and federated model updates, and an edge or cloud analytics platform performs time-series fault prediction and remaining-useful-life estimation, detects concept drift, retrains models online, and distributes quantized models and communication policies over the air. The architecture extends network lifetime, improves packet delivery, and enables early and accurate fault prediction in industrial, infrastructure, and environmental monitoring applications.
