Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-based agroecological monitoring and advisory system (100) and a computer-implemented method (200) for agricultural applications. The system (100) comprises a plurality of IoT sensor nodes (102) deployed across an agricultural field (104) for capturing real-time agroecological parameters (110), a communication gateway (112) configured to receive the agroecological parameters (110) via a wireless communication network (114), and a processing unit (116) comprising at least one processor (116a) and a memory (116b). The processing unit (116) is configured to process the agroecological parameters (110) to determine field conditions associated with irrigation requirements, pest risk, or crop disease, and to generate actionable advisories. The processing unit (116) performs localized processing to enable operation under intermittent connectivity conditions, thereby reducing dependence on continuous cloud connectivity. In an embodiment, advisory generation utilizes a Small Language Model (SLM) executed on the processing unit (116).
