Abstract: The present subject matter relates to an intoxicant detection system (100) in a vehicle (10). The system (100) comprises one or more first sensors (104) and a control unit (108). The one or more first sensors (104) are disposed to detect a present state of a user operating the handlebar assembly (102). The control unit (108) is configured to: receive the present state of the user from the one or more first sensors (104) when the vehicle (10) being in an ignition ON condition; determine an intoxicant level of the user when the received present state being indicative of presence of intoxicant in the user’s body; and control operation of a vehicle prime mover (106) in one of a plurality of modes based on the determined intoxicant level. The present subject matter additionally disclosed a method (200) for intoxicant detection in a vehicle (10).
