Abstract: Abstract The rapid growth of mobility services has intensified challenges related to vehicle safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This paper presents an IoT and web integrated cyber-physical system designed for real-time vehicle safety monitoring and operational optimization. The proposed system combines sensor-enabled IoT hardware with a MERN stack–based web platform to continuously acquire, process, and visualize vehicle operational data. A GPS-based speed monitoring algorithm is employed to detect over speeding events by comparing real-time velocity data against predefined safety thresholds. Vehicle overloading is identified using real-time occupancy data obtained from sensor-assisted passenger detection mechanisms. In addition, the system supports condition-based maintenance by monitoring critical operational parameters and generating alerts upon abnormal behavior patterns. The backend architecture leverages Node.js and Express for real-time data ingestion and event handling, while Mongo DB enables secure and scalable data storage. A React-based dashboard provides role-based access to administrators and users, offering live vehicle tracking, safety alerts, and operational analytics. A functional prototype has been implemented and validated in a controlled environment, demonstrating improved situational awareness, reduced manual supervision, and enhanced safety decision-making. The system is scalable and suitable for deployment in educational and public transport domains.
