Abstract: An IoT-based mining worker tracking and emergency safety alert system (100) and method are disclosed. The system (100) comprises a plurality of wearable RFID cards (102) assigned to workers, an RFID reader (104) to detect the cards within a detection range, and a sensor array (106) featuring biometric, infrared, pressure, and gas sensors to monitor real-time worker and environmental conditions. A manual panic button (108) integrated into the RFID card (102) generates an immediate distress signal upon activation. A microcontroller unit (110), powered by a stabilized battery unit (116), processes tracking, environmental, and emergency data. The microcontroller (110) prioritizes urgent distress signals over routine updates and transmits real-time location and alert data via a Wi-Fi module (112) to an IoT monitoring platform (114) for display, ensuring instant localization of compromised individuals.
