Inventors include Dr. G. Shanmugasundar; and Pattabiraman. D.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: An loT-based Smart Helmet Accident Detection and Location Tracking System is disclosed for enhancing worker safety in construction sites, mining operations, and industrial workplaces. The system integrates an ESP8266 Wi-Fi microcontroller, an MPU6050 six-axis accelerometer and gyroscope sensor, and a NED-6M GPS module within a standard safety helmet. The MPU6050 continuously measures the worker's motion parameters, and G-force values are computed in real time using vector magnitude calculation. When G-force exceeds a predefined threshold, the system identifies the event as an accident, activates the GPS module to obtain precise latitude and longitude coordinates, and transmits the accident alert along with location data and timestamp to a Firebase Realtime Database via Wi-Fi. A web application synchronizes with Firebase to display real-time accident notifications and the worker's location on an interactive map. The system achieves 93.3% detection accuracy and alert response within 4 seconds, providing a low-cost, scalable, proactive safety monitoring solution.
