MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411091069 A) filed by Chairman, Defence Research & Development on November 22, 2024, for An Multifunctional Chemical Protective Suit From Advanced Adsorbent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multifunctional chemical protective suit comprises of two layers. The first layer worn next to the skin is a laminated activated carbon fabric (ACF), which consists of activated carbon fabric sandwiched between two textile fabrics with lesser chances of carbon shedding and more efficient adsorption property. Next to laminated activated carbon fabric layer is a multifunctional outer fabric consisting of blended yarn of different fibres in appropriate composition. This outer layer is capable of providing inherent fire resistance and antistatic property. Additionally, it also imparts oil and water repellence. The laminated activated carbon fabric layer in conjugations with outer fabric layer is capable of providing protection of more than 24hr against lethal chemical warfare agent (Sulfur mustard).
