Abstract: The invention relates to an oral controlled release matrix tablet comprising a compacted tablet body containing active pharmaceutical ingredient domains dispersed within a hydrophilic polymer network, complementary matrix former, channel former, binder, filler, and lubricant. Upon oral administration, gastrointestinal fluid hydrates the polymer network to form a gel layer that controls fluid penetration, drug diffusion, and gradual matrix erosion. The tablet provides predetermined sustained release, mechanical strength, blend uniformity, and scalable manufacture using conventional compression techniques for improved dosing convenience and therapeutic coverage.
