Inventors include Kavitha A N; Bhavya Shree B; Spoorthi G T; Kavya S M; and Manisha Mahesh Bihani.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an orally disintegrating tablet comprising Eletriptan and bio-modified natural tragacanth gum functioning as a superdisintegrant. The bio-modified gum is prepared through controlled hydration, surfactant-assisted chain loosening, mild oxidation, and drying processes configured to reduce viscosity and enhance capillary water uptake characteristics. The formulation further comprises pharmaceutically acceptable excipients including microcrystalline cellulose and water-soluble diluents suitable for direct compression manufacturing. The orally disintegrating tablets exhibit rapid disintegration within approximately twenty seconds to thirty seconds, wetting times less than or equal to approximately thirty seconds, hardness values ranging between approximately three kilograms per square centimeter and three and one-half kilograms per square centimeter, and release approximately ninety-eight percent or greater of incorporated Eletriptan within approximately thirty minutes. The invention provides improved patient compliance, rapid therapeutic delivery, enhanced disintegration efficiency, reduced manufacturing complexity, and cost-effective pharmaceutical production for acute migraine treatment applications.
