MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531050583 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Kharagpur on May 26, 2025, for An Orthogonal Time-Frequency Space Mode (otfsm) Waveform Based Wireless Communication System And A Method Thereof.
Inventors include Ch. Santosh Reddy; and Debarati Sen.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: AN ORTHOGONAL TIME-FREQUENCY SPACE MODE (OTFSM) WAVEFORM BASED WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND A METHOD THEREOF. The present invention provides an Orthogonal Time-Frequency Space Mode (OTFSM) waveform based wireless communication system which comprises an OTFSM generator configured for combining Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) multiplexing with Orthogonal Time-Frequency Space (OTFS) modulation to generate the OTFSM waveform, a user equipment (UE) and a base station (BS) operating in combination that includes a transmitter in the BS to transmit and a receiver in the UE to receive configuration information, which contains details about a set of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states as well as instructions for receiving a mode indication involving the OTFSM waveform, said transmitter and receiver are further configured to obtain the mode indication based on the received configuration. The transmitter [100] transmits the OTFSM waveform including information symbols placed therein in different grids and the receiver [120] receives said OTFSM waveform and retrieve thus transmitted information bits.
