Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT-enabled, privacy-preserving smart anti-stampede crowd management system for regulating pedestrian movement in a controlled area. The system comprises a registration module for associating a visitor with an RFID tag, entry and exit RFID readers, infrared passage sensors, an embedded controller with an occupancy engine, a database, gate actuators, alert devices, a communication module, and a real-time dashboard. The controller validates movement events by correlating RFID detection with infrared passage detection within a predefined debounce window, computes live occupancy from validated entry and exit events, and compares the occupancy with configurable density thresholds. When unsafe occupancy or congestion conditions occur, the controller autonomously actuates gates to restrict further entry, prioritize exit routing, and generate visual, audible, dashboard-based, and digital alerts. The system exclusively uses non-visual sensor data and supports modular multi-zone deployment, thereby providing a scalable crowd safety solution without camera-based surveillance.
