Abstract: The present invention relates to a hemostatic dressing and a method for its preparation. The dressing comprises a substrate layer of polymeric fabric, preferably polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fabric, coated with a composite layer containing chitosan, polyethylene oxide (PEO), aminocaproic acid (ACA), and nanosilver particles. The PET fabric is surface modified and immobilized with nanosilver to enhance antimicrobial performance. The composite coating is applied onto the PET fabric and dried to obtain a functional hemostatic dressing. The synergistic combination of chitosan, PEO, ACA, and nanosilver provides rapid blood clot formation, improved clot stability, and broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. The dressing demonstrates excellent biocompatibility, reduced clotting time, and effective infection control at the wound site. The invention also provides a simple and cost-effective method for fabrication of the dressing. The developed hemostatic dressing is suitable for applications in trauma care, surgical procedures, and emergency wound management, offering improved therapeutic outcomes and faster healing.
