Inventors include Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Dr. Deepak Kumar Yadav; Dr. Deepak Kumar Sinha; Raushan Raj; Amisha Patel; and Tejas Dutta.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for assessing grain quality. The apparatus (100) includes an image sensor (102) that captures visible-light images of grain kernels, a near-infrared sensing assembly (104) that illuminates a grain sample with near-infrared light at multiple wavelengths and measures reflected light intensity, and a hardware processor (106) operatively coupled to both sensing components. The hardware processor (106) extracts morphological parameters of grain kernels from image data received from the image sensor (102), and computes chemical composition parameters by applying calibration coefficients to reflectance intensity measurements received from the near-infrared sensing assembly (104). The hardware processor (106) determines a quality grade for the grain sample based on the extracted morphological parameters and computed chemical composition parameters, and further determines storage acceptability of the grain sample based on the quality grade and chemical composition parameters.
