Abstract: An apparatus (100) to convert Braille content (104A) into speech output may include a manipulation assembly (102) having at least three degrees of freedom to traverse a surface of a document (104) including Braille content (104A), and an imaging unit (106) mounted on the manipulation assembly (102) to capture images of tactile dot patterns and generate image data. An actuation control unit (108) operatively coupled to the manipulation assembly (102) to control positional movement along at least three degrees of freedom. A processing unit (110), including one or more processors and a memory storing instructions to process the image data to detect tactile dot patterns, analyze the detected patterns to determine corresponding Braille characters based on a predefined mapping dataset, and convert the Braille characters into textual data. The processing unit (110) further generates an audio signal via a text-to- speech unit and controls traversal manipulation assembly (102) for sequential scanning.
