Abstract: ABSTRACT An apparatus (102) for forensic Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profiling comprises a battery pack (104) electrically connected to a solar photovoltaic panel (106) through a charge controller (108), a thermal cycling assembly (110), a capillary electrophoresis assembly (112), and a hardware processor (114). The hardware processor (114) actively manages power drawn by the thermal cycling assembly (110) based on available power supplied by the battery pack (104), such that polymerase chain reaction amplification is performed within a power budget sustainable by the battery pack (104). The hardware processor (114) controls the capillary electrophoresis assembly (112) to separate amplified DNA fragments and detect fluorescence emission therefrom. The hardware processor (114) generates a DNA profile record from the detected fluorescence emission and transmits the DNA profile record to a remote server (118) via a cellular communication transceiver (116).
