MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511004771 A) filed by Dilip Rene Mehera on January 21, 2025, for Apparatus And Method For Processing Polyethylene Terephthalate (pet) Bottles.

Inventor includes Dilip Rene Mehera.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: A polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle processing apparatus (100) for plastics recycling comprises an inlet and verification module (104), neck-cutter module (106), label removal module (108), shredder module (110), motor (112), control unit (114), and main housing (102). The apparatus (100) validates bottles through a plurality of sensors, cuts bottle necks using a heated nichrome wire (134), removes labels, and shreds bottle’s body into pieces. Further, a far UV light (162) sterilizes PET bottle and calibrates a color sensor (164) to determine bottle color, before shredding. The apparatus (100) is configured to direct shredded material into corresponding color- specific collection bins (182), using a movable funnel (178). The apparatus (100) is configured to segregate and collect bottle caps, labels, and shredded bodies into corresponding containers. Further, a reward system, managed through an authentication module (200) and mobile app (220), incentivizes users. The modular design enables efficient processing of PET bottles for recycling while providing comprehensive material segregation and color separation capabilities. FIGS. 2 & 9
