Abstract: According to one embodiment, an apparatus of a base station comprises: a transceiver; a memory for storing instructions; and a processor. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to transmit reference signals to a terminal. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to receive, from the terminal, channel state information for the reference signals. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to determine whether a first rank of a rank indicator included in the channel state information is greater than a threshold value. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to generate first downlink data on the basis of a first precoding matrix corresponding to a second rank greater than the first rank when the first rank is greater than the threshold value.
