The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus (100) for pillion support. The apparatus (100) is a foldable backrest mechanism that enhances passenger comfort and accessibility on two-wheelers. A backrest assembly (102) is mounted on a rear portion of the vehicle and is supported by a swing arm (104), which provides structural linkage for movement. A swing arm (104) engages with a slot (106) of a sleeve (108), allowing controlled motion between horizontal and upright positions. A bevel (110) within the sleeve (108) guides the alignment of the swing arm (104) for accurate positioning. A clasp (112) secures the swing arm (104) when locked, while an actuator (114) enables quick release for folding. A locking unit provides multidirectional stability by preventing unwanted lateral, vertical, or rotational displacement. The apparatus (100) ensures smooth operation, ergonomic support, and enhanced passenger safety.
