Parijatham Kanchana; and Dr. Usha Praveena V J on August 04, 2026, for Aqueous Vernonia Anthelmintica Leaf Extract For Antidiabetic And Bio-Dielectric Applications And Compositions.
Inventors include Dr. Gurja Sony; Dr. S. Parijatham Kanchana; and Dr. Usha Praveena V J.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aqueous extract of Vernonia anthelmintica leaves, a process for its preparation, and compositions comprising the extract. The extract is prepared by aqueous Soxhlet extraction of shade-dried leaf powder followed by concentration and recovery of water-soluble phytoconstituents. The extract exhibits low cytotoxicity toward HepG2 cells, enhances cellular glucose uptake, and significantly reduces intracellular lipid accumulation, thereby demonstrating antidiabetic potential. Dielectric characterization over a frequency range of 10 kHz to 1 MHz shows increasing dielectric permittivity and decreasing dielectric loss, indicating efficient polarization with reduced energy dissipation. The extract is suitable for incorporation into pharmaceutical formulations for diabetes management and as a bio- dielectric material in sensing devices, dielectric coatings, capacitive elements, and other electronic components. The invention provides a naturally derived multifunctional composition combining therapeutic efficacy with favourable dielectric performance.
