Abstract: An automated fluid-management system and method are disclosed for reliability-aware sensing, hierarchical actuator control, and autonomous fault-tolerant operation in residential, institutional, commercial, agricultural, and industrial environments. The system comprises a sensing subsystem configured to obtain fluid-condition measurements, a validation subsystem configured to evaluate sensor reliability through a multi-state operational framework, and a control subsystem configured to control one or more fluid- transfer actuators according to validated sensor information, operational safety conditions, and a plurality of command sources having different authority levels. The validation subsystem dynamically identifies unstable or unreliable sensing conditions through adaptive measurement evaluation, trend analysis, operational-state transitions, and continuously updated sensor-reliability assessment. The control subsystem implements hierarchical authority-based arbitration configured to selectively permit, suppress, prioritize, or override actuator operations according to command authority, safety conditions, manually initiated override states, and predefined operational recovery conditions. The system further supports autonomous operation during communication degradation through multiple independent communication pathways and infrastructure-independent local control behaviour. In preferred embodiments, the system may employ distributed sensing and actuator-control nodes, wireless and/or wired communication architectures, flow-aware operation, dry-run protection, runtime feature management, local and remote configuration interfaces, and firmware-update mechanisms. The invention improves automation reliability, operational safety, fault tolerance, and intelligent actuator management in fluid-control applications.
