The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an autonomous system and method for building-specific seismic risk assessment and structural health monitoring. The system comprises smart sensor nodes having MEMS accelerometers, positioning sensors and tilt sensors, a communication infrastructure, a geospatial data ingestion and fusion engine, machine-learning models and an application layer. Sensor-derived vibration characteristics, including fundamental frequency, are fused with optical imagery, SAR/InSAR, LiDAR, soil, fault and seismic hazard data to estimate building height, number of stories and structural typology. A dynamic Earthquake Risk Index (ERI) is generated using the estimated structural parameters, real-time sensor measurements and geospatial hazard parameters. A building-specific baseline is used for anomaly detection based on changes in vibration and inclination. Post-event structural response data is further used as ground truth for validation and autonomous updating of the machine-learning models, thereby providing continuously updated, building-specific seismic risk intelligence.
