MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611108976 A) filed by Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University on September 10, 2026, for Autonomous Fire Detection And Adaptive Suppression System For Coal Wagons.
Inventors include Dr. Shobhit Maheshwari; Dr. Preeti Rustagi; and Dr. Priyanka Pradhan.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: An autonomous fire detection and adaptive suppression system for coal wagons, comprises a sensing module 101 embedded within multiple layers of a coal storage region inside a wagon 102, monitors thermal gradients, oxygen depletion and hazardous gas accumulation in the wagon 102, a docking housing 103 mounted along an outer periphery of the wagon 102 store multiple aerial bodies 103c and enabling vertical takeoff of a swarm of aerial bodies 103c, a fire suppression assembly 104 integrated in each aerial body 103c for mitigating oxygen supply, and spraying a pressurized mist of water, an arrangement 105 installed in at least one of the aerial body 103c deploys vertical barriers 105a via an extension member 105b to isolate an affected wagon 102 from neighbouring wagons 102, and the vertical barriers 105a are made from a heat insulation sheet to attract suspended coal-dust particles to minimize particulate dispersion.
