Abstract: Autonomous Subsurface Hydrological Monitoring Network for Detecting Unauthorized Groundwater Extraction Activities This invention describes an autonomous subsurface aquifer monitoring and groundwater extraction detection system configured to identify and verify groundwater withdrawal activities occurring within underground aquifer environments. The system employs a distributed network of underground monitoring nodes capable of detecting hydrological disturbances through pressure gradient analysis, microseismic vibration sensing, magnetometric detection of pump motor signatures, and hydro-acoustic profiling of borewell activity. Multi- modal sensor data is processed through artificial intelligence–based analytical algorithms configured to recognize extraction signatures and determine the spatial location of pumping sources within the monitored region. Verified extraction events are securely recorded using a blockchain-based distributed ledger infrastructure that provides tamper-resistant documentation of groundwater usage data. The system further incorporates predictive aquifer stress modelling to estimate groundwater depletion trends and potential land subsidence risks. By enabling direct detection of subsurface hydrological disturbances and secure recording of extraction events, the invention provides a reliable mechanism for monitoring groundwater usage and supporting sustainable aquifer resource management.
