MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071028 A) filed by Psg Institute Of Technology And Applied Research on June 08, 2026, for Autonomous Valet Reverse Parking System.
Inventors include Dr. S Julius Fusic; Dr. H Ramesh; Dr. N Bharathi; and Dr. P R Jain Vinith.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an invention typically relates to an autonomous valet reverse parking system designed to automatically identify vacant parking slots and maneuver a vehicle safely into the detected slot with minimal or no human intervention. The system employs vision-based 10 image processing teclmiques to determine parking slot availability using both slots marking detection and vehicle presence identification under varying illumination conditions. Upon detection of a vacant slot, an optimized reverse parking trajectory is generated based on vehicle geom~try and steering constraints. A Kalman filter-based tracking 15 mechanism ensures accurate path following during vehicle motion. The invention further integrates embedded hardware comprising a vision sensor, distance sensors, and a single-board computing platform for realtime implementation on a four-wheeled robotic vehicle. The proposed system improves parking accuracy, reduces driver stress, and enables 20 reliable autonomous parking in constrained environments.
