Abstract: An axle assembly (100) comprising a differential assembly (120), and first and second axle shafts (130, 140) disposed within first and second arm portions (114, 116), respectively, of an axle housing (110). The differential assembly (120) is operatively coupled to the first and second axle shafts (130, 140). The axle assembly (100) further comprises a first and second oil coolers (150, 160) arranged above the first and second axle shafts (130, 140), respectively. The first and second oil coolers (150, 160) define slits (162) along a periphery thereof. Upon rotation of a ring gear (122) of the differential assembly (120), the ring gear (122) directs the lubricant oil (O) on the first and second oil coolers (150, 160), and the lubricant oil (O) flows through the slits (162) into the axle housing (110). The first and second oil coolers (150, 160) reduces temperature of the lubricant oil (O).
