Abstract: The construction industry is becoming more focused on finding sustainable and cost-efficient materials for environmentally friendly building practices. Bamboo- embedded composite panels made with fibre-reinforced mortar is proposed for use in affordable housing. Different mortar mixtures, strengthened with steel, coir, and glass fibres, were made using the best fibre amounts identified in earlier research, along with a standard reference mix. These mortar samples were tested for compressive strength, flexural strength, impact resistance, density, and water absorption. Based on these results, composite panels were made by inserting treated bamboo strips into the mortar. The panels were then tested for compression and flexural strength to evaluate their structural performance, and their thermal insulation was assessed through thermal analysis using ANSYS software. The findings reveal that using fibres and bamboo enhances the performance of the composite materials. Panels reinforced with steel fibres showed higher mechanical strength, while those with coir fibres provided better thermal insulation. The study emphasizes the potential of bamboo and fibre-reinforced mortar composites as lightweight, sustainable, and cost-effective options for eco-friendly and affordable housing solutions.
