Abstract: ABSTRACT BERBERIS ARISTATA BASED ZINC NANO FORMULATION FOR PERIODONTAL APPLICATION The present disclosure relates to a Berberis aristata based zinc nano formulation and method thereof for periodontal application. More particularly, the formulation comprises of root bark of Berberis aristata, Caprae lac and zinc acetate. Furthermore, the method comprises processing of root bark of Berberis aristata and Caprae lac to obtain Berberis aristata based extract; adding zinc acetate, sodium hydroxide and ethanol: water in 1:1 ratio to obtain a nano solution; combining Berberis aristata based extract and nano solution; and obtaining Berberis aristata based zinc nano formulation. The said Berberis aristata based nano formulation has analgesic, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory metabolites to target oral pathogens in periodontitis.
