MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647082330 A) filed by Sabic Global Technologies B. V. on July 03, 2026, for Biaxially Oriented Pipe Derived From Beta Crystalline Polypropylene.

Inventors include Taraiya, Ajay, kumar Pctep No; Degenhart, Peter; Boerakker, Mark, Johannes; Caelers, Henricus Johannes Maria Wo No; and Kleppinger, Ralf.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: Process for preparing a biaxially oriented pipe comprising the steps of: a) melt processing a polypropylene composition into a billet; b) cooling the billet to a temperature of = Tc to obtain a precursor pipe, where Tc is the crystallisation temperature of the polypropylene composition; c) heating the precursor pipe to a drawing temperature (Td °C); and d) bi-axially stretching the precursor pipe in the axial direction and in the peripheral direction to obtain the bi-axially oriented pipe; wherein the drawing temperature Td is a temperature Tc and = Tc + 22°C; where Tc is the crystallisation temperature of the polypropylene composition, determined using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and wherein the precursor pipe comprising the polypropylene composition is at least partially crystallised in the ß-form having ß-crystallinity of 5.0%. Also disclosed is a biaxially oriented pipe obtained from the above process.
